Our specialist subject areas

Our school offers three outstanding specialist programs: Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE), Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), and Dance.

We have dedicated specialist teachers for PDHPE and STEM who deliver weekly lessons designed to engage students and enrich their learning experiences.

Our highly regarded Dance program provides a vibrant and creative outlet for students passionate about dance. Interested students can audition to join this program, which is expertly led by our talented choreographer Sid and Miss Cutler, who brings 18 years of experience working with dance groups.

Sport + PDHPE

Tweed Heads Public School fosters a strong sporting culture by providing students with weekly sport and physical education lessons led by a specialist teacher, ensuring skill development and regular physical activity.

Beyond the classroom, students have numerous opportunities to represent the school in a diverse range of sports, including participation in NSW PSSA competitions and gala days for rugby league, basketball, netball, soccer, cricket, rugby union, and touch football. The school also offers intensive swimming programs designed to develop water safety and swimming skills.

STEM

All students from Kindergarten to Year 6 participate in weekly STEM lessons led by a specialist teacher, ensuring a strong foundation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Our school is well equipped with a range of exciting and engaging technologies, including robotics kits, coding platforms, and digital design tools, which inspire creativity and hands-on learning.

In addition to regular lessons, students have the opportunity to take part in external STEM challenges and competitions that encourage teamwork, problem-solving, and innovative thinking.

Dance

Our school’s Dance program is long-established, highly regarded, and consistently successful. We have over 100 students involved across junior and senior dance crews (including both boys and girls). Each year, students have the opportunity to showcase their talents by competing in various Eisteddfods and dance competitions, as well as performing at school assemblies and special events throughout the year.
